Who we are
ProbatePack.ie is operated by Justin O'Brien, a sole trader based in Dublin, Ireland. For the purposes of the GDPR, Justin is the data controller. You can contact the data controller at justin@probatepack.ie.
ProbatePack is not large enough to require a formal Data Protection Officer under Article 37 of the GDPR. Questions about data handling go direct to Justin.
What data we collect
We collect three categories of personal data:
- Questionnaire responses. When you complete a Readiness Check or any higher-tier questionnaire, your answers are stored briefly in your browser (localStorage autosave) and, once you submit, are transmitted to our delivery pipeline to generate your personalised report. We do not ask for PPS numbers, bank details, or identity documents as part of the questionnaire.
- Contact information. Your email address and first name, provided at checkout so we can deliver your report. Your email is added to a delivery sequence that sends the report and up to two follow-up check-in emails.
- Usage data. Aggregated page views via Plausible Analytics. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect IP addresses in identifiable form, and does not track you across sites. We cannot identify individual visitors from our analytics.
What we do with it
Questionnaire responses are used solely to generate your personalised report. We keep them for 30 days after delivery in case you contact us with a question about the report or request a resend. After 30 days they are deleted automatically.
Your email address is used to deliver the report, to send the two follow-up check-in emails, and (only if you actively subscribed) to send the monthly ProbatePack newsletter. You can unsubscribe from any email at any time with one click. Unsubscribing removes you from our records within 48 hours.
Usage data from Plausible is used in aggregate to understand which pages are useful and which need work. Plausible data is never cross-referenced with questionnaire or email data.
Third parties
We use the following external services. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Stripe: payment processing. Stripe receives your card details directly; we never see them. Stripe privacy policy.
- Kit (formerly ConvertKit): email delivery. Kit stores your email address and first name and tracks whether you opened the delivery email. Kit privacy policy.
- Plausible Analytics: aggregate page view statistics, cookieless. Plausible data policy.
- Netlify: hosting. Netlify serves the site and runs the serverless functions that process your questionnaire. Netlify privacy policy.
- Cloudflare R2: object storage. R2 stores the generated PDFs and workbooks we deliver to you (accessible via a time-limited link) and a small idempotency marker per Stripe event to prevent duplicate deliveries. Files are retained for up to 30 days. Cloudflare privacy policy.
Your rights under the GDPR
You have the right to:
- Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of any inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data (the right to be forgotten)
- Withdraw consent at any time
- Lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission in Ireland (dataprotection.ie)
To exercise any of these rights, email justin@probatepack.ie. We aim to respond within five working days. We will never charge a fee to handle a reasonable data rights request.
Cookies
ProbatePack.ie does not use tracking cookies. We use localStorage in your browser to autosave your questionnaire progress, which is a technical necessity so you do not lose your answers. That storage stays on your device and is not transmitted to us until you actively submit the form.
We do not embed third-party cookies, social media widgets, or advertising pixels anywhere on the site.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, we will note the change in the Updated date at the top of the page and, if we have your email, notify you by email. Minor changes (typos, link corrections) are made without notice.
Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of Ireland. Any disputes concerning it will be handled by the Irish courts or, at your preference, the Data Protection Commission.
What to do next
A personalised diagnostic report telling you in plain English whether you need probate, whether you can do it yourself, what it will cost, how much inheritance tax the family will owe, and what to do in the next 14 days. If you later upgrade, we take €50 off the next pack.
